I know I will miss Bashful Blue as I use this a lot on baby cards.  I am hoping that a new blue to replace this one will be coming out in the new 2013/2014 Catalogue.  Not far away now till we get to see the new Catalogue.............I am getting super excited!!!

March Birthdays

Hello Stampers,

The South Pacific ( Australia and New Zealand )  Stampin' Up! Convention is coming up soon in May so I have been busy starting my swaps and also doing a couple of my "Roomie" Gifts.  The Convention this year is in my home town of Brisbane but I am still staying in close to where all the action is so I don't miss out on anything :)  I love  Convention so simply can't wait till this years'.  I can't show you any of these yet as they are a secret!!  I will have lots of pics to share after Convention.

I still have to keep up to date with my family and friends' birthday cards so I thought I would share a couple of my March ones with you now.

I found inspiration for this one from Pinterest - great source of Stampin' Up! creations on this site.  I am loving it. It is a card by Virginia Kilmore and Desiree Spenst.  I have just adapted the embellishments for me.  This is a card for my sister's birthday and I used the Naturals White cardstock on Page 160 of the Annual Catalogue.  This has a slight fleck through it which gives it a bit more character.  I also used up some of my old retired DSPs both on the card and on the envelope flap.

This card is using the new Designer Builder Brads in the Seasonal Catalogue on Page 12 and I cut a small Itty Bitty Punch Pack circle from the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper for the centre of the Brad.  The flower is using Daydream Medallions Stamp Set and the Floral Frames Framelits.  The colours are Midnight Muse and Whisper White.    The greeting is from the  retired stamp set "A Word for You".  This card is for a good friend and neighbour's birthday next week. I hope she likes it.

Playing paper doll dress ups

I am loving the new "Dress Up" Framelit Dies ( #130101) in the new Seasonal Catalogue.  When I first saw them I thought what would you do with them???  So I bought them to see what I could do.  Here are 2 of my creations that I put together today.  I am now loving them :)

Tulle, Tulle and more Tulle!!!

Hello Stampers,

I have been looking at all my Tulle recently...you know the ones that were in our last Holiday Catalogue??

I used the Cherry Cobbler in my Christmas decoration.

Well I really wanted to use it again so surfed my favourite crafting sites for inspiration.  On Pinterest I found Kimberley Van Diepen from Woodbridge, Virginia and I love Kimberley's designs. I fell in love with her mini mannequin using the Dress Framelits.  Check them out here.

I just had to make one or a few of these myself.  So here is my first attempt and as I don't have any wooden cotton reels but plenty of corks I decorated the champagne cork with Tulle and stuck the skewer into this. Works a treat :)

I stamped the top of the dress form with the flowers in the Vintage Vogue stamp set (retired) using the new Illuminate stamp pad and attached a couple of the little flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  These are attached with a mini paper clip which is non Stampin' Up!  The flower on the waist is from the Vanilla Flower Trim in the new Seasonal Catalogue on Page 5.  Contact me here if you are in Australia and are simply dying to get your hands on these darling little flowers :)

Another use for the Tulle was in this Wedding card that I made for my stash.

I cut small circles of the Crumb Cake tulle and ran a gather stitch around the middle to give it a bit of added oomph!!  The DSP is from Summer Smooches and added a bit of gold glimmer paper behind the cake sentiment from the Love & Laughter stamp set (# 125477 C / 127512 W). The word "Love" is stamped onto the DSP with Versamark and embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder using the Simply Serif Mini Alphabet (#126360) on Page 147 of the Annual Catalogue. The background is the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  The little mini heart on the cake is from the Owl Builder Punch.

Masking Embossing Folders Tutorial

As promised here is my Tutorial on Masking Embossing. This is a card I made for my brother's birthday....

The card base is Midnight Muse 21 cm x 14.8 cm ( normal half the A4 cardstock size ). I then cut another piece of Midnight Muse 10 cm x 14.3 cm and ran this through the Big Shot as shown

The sandwich consists of Multipurpose Platform with all TABS closed, no bottom plate, Embossing Folder (EF), top plate.  The Embossing Folder is made up like this...

I used the Houndstooth folder which, I think, is quite manly.  I placed the cardstock into the EF and I created a template using 2 x pieces of the backing board from the Glimmer Paper to place on the top of the EF.  I added a couple of spots of Dotto just to keep it in place.  You can make your template any shape you choose but it must be "chipboard" thickness ( 2 mm ).  So you can glue together a few layers of the backing card from your Designer Series Paper (DSP) - I usually do 3 or 4 layers - or use this card from the Glimmer Paper.  As each Big Shot is calibrated slightly differently do a test run first and adjust accordingly for your machine.  The end result is........

 

 Here is the finished card.   The greeting is from the free sale-a-bration stamp set "Patterned Occasions" stamped on whisper white , then Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse embossed with Houndstooth again and Cherry Cobbler at the bottom. The cupcake stamp is coloured using the 2012-2014 In Color Stampin' Write Markers - Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple.

and inside I used the greeting from the "Best Dad Ever" stamp set in the Annual Catalogue.
